The Kevin Bates SM Memorial aims to continue his legacy for generations to come.

The Kevin Bates SM Memorial is expected to raise significant funds to be held upon trust and used to provide grants, bursaries and scholarships to reach people on the very fringe of society, offering them opportunities to experience belonging and a future.

Fr. Kevin’s passion for Social Justice, Young People, Music, and Community was unwavering and has determined the way in which the funds will be distributed within Australia and South East Asia.

Music

The Kevin Bates sm Memorial Trust will create and foster opportunities for those interested in composing music for Catholic Worship and similar creative endeavours, such as faith-based music therapy.

Social Justice

Fr. Kevin engaged in the Social and Political questions of the day, standing with the least powerful and using his voice to present their cry for justice.

The Kevin Bates sm Memorial Trust will similarly provide grants to individuals and organisations to promote social justice.

Education

Fr. Kevin was dedicated to enhancing the education of young people and adults alike. The Kevin Bates SM Memorial Trust, established to continue Kevin’s lifetime work, shares this commitment and will provide educational grants for those most in need.

The Governance Body of the Kevin Bates sm Memorial Trust includes members of Fr Kevin’s family, the Marist family and his friends.
